26 MILES ACROSS THE SEA

MEET (L-R) Irene (Spain) and Jamira (Germany) foreign exchange students at Alta Loma High School. We treated them to a day in Catalina and they loved every minute. It was a cold day, but sparkling clear.

At the Long Beach downtown harbor, we boarded the Express. Paid extra for the Commodore lounge so boarded first and enjoyed our free drink.

STROLLING ALONG THE MAIN  STREET WE ENJOYED THE SHOPS, RESTAURANTS, OCEAN VIEWS, AND STROLLED ALONG TO THE CASINO. DIVERS WERE SUITING UP EVERYWHERE AND BRAVING IT INTO THE COLD WATER TO BRING OUT TRASH. IT WAS CLEAN UP THE HARBOR DAY FOR DIVE CLUBS FROM ALL OVER.

Renting a golf cart we explored the island and after climbing up a winding road enjoyed lovely panoramic views. Made a stop at the zip line.

We covered the land, now time to look under the surface. Sort of a bogus trip but we did see fish.

It was a great day and we enjoyed showing our visitors around one of California’s gems.

A DAY AT THE GETTY

“The J. Paul Getty Museum seeks to inspire curiosity about, and enjoyment and understanding of, the visual arts by collecting, conserving, exhibiting and interpreting works of art of outstanding quality and historical importance.

THE GETTY! THE TRAFFIC ON THE 405 IS A NIGHTMARE. PARKING ($15) IS A PAIN. WAITING IN LINE WITH HUNDREDS OF SCHOOL KIDS IS ANNOYING. BUT ONCE YOU ARE THERE IT IS AMAZING.

THE SCENERY, THE FLOWERS, THE TREES, THE VIEWS AND THEN, OF COURSE, THE EXHIBITS.

ADMISSION IS FREE!!

I’M POSTING OUR PICTURES AND REALLY NEED NOT SAY MORE.
