Angels reliever Scot Shields will undergo surgery Tuesday to repair the patella tendon on his left knee and is expected to miss the rest of the season. Shields had been on the disabled list since May 27, after going 1-3 with a 6.62 ERA to start the season.

The surgery will be conducted by Angels Team Orthopedist Dr. Lewis Yocum at the Kerlan-Jobe Surgery Center in Los Angeles. Shields will be ready to resume baseball activities in approximately six months.
