Electric toothbrushes caused a bomb scare on Wednesday at Los Angeles International Airport, police said.
The incident happened at about 11:30 a.m. on the ramp at Gate 26 in Terminal 2. While loading a bag, ramp workers noticed it was vibrating and became concerned, said Sgt. Karla Ortiz of Los Angeles World Airports police.
The owner of the bag said the vibration was caused by electric toothbrushes, but the bomb squad was called out just in case, Ortiz said.
“It was a checked bag that was being loaded onto the plane,” Ortiz said. “As they were loaded it they came across it and found it vibrating. They called the passenger and they discovered it was toothbrushes.”
Police cleared the bag at about noon.
