Before Wednesday, I did not know what Hello Kitty was. Actually, I’m still exactly sure what the whole thing is about.
But I know it’s a big deal. I know this because Eva Air brought a Hello Kitty-themed Boeing 777 to Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday. And it was pandemonium. Many fans and media were present for the big party.
Eva, Taiwan’s national carrier, has actually had Hello Kitty jets for a long time. But I believe this is the first time one has crossed the Pacific Ocean to the United States. It looks like the plane will fly between Los Angeles and Taipei three times per week for a while.

Eva Air is bringing one of its ‘Hello Kitty’ branded planes to Los Angeles, starting in September.

Eva Air is bringing its Hello Kitty planes to Los Angeles, according to this report. The specially painted planes have been flying within Asia for some time, but this appears to be the first time they are coming to the United States.
According to the report, the first Boeing 777-300ER with the paint job arrives in Los Angeles on Sept. 18. For some – though not me – this is probably exciting.
