Dane Cook -- am I missing something?
I don't often comment on the castoffs that David Kronke throws into the bin for us all to pick through, but I can't help it in this case. I pulled out "Dane Cook Vicious Circle: A Stand-Up Comedy Event." It premiered Sept. 4, but HBO is running it a bazillion times, just in case you missed it.
Now I know Dane Cook is in an upcoming movie with Jessica Simpson and has been linked to her "romantically," whatever that means in the world of Jessica Simpson.
That's all I've ever heard about him.
Much to my suprise, The "Vicious Circle," on one level at least, referst to the "in the round" stage Cook prowls in a humongous theater, surrounded by thousands of adoring, screaming fans.
He launches into his first "bit," which is about how he's taken up lying as much as possible.
It goes on ... and on ... and on ... I didn't laugh, I couldn't go on. I would've liked to stay for joke No. 2, but if this is the best that Dane Cook brings to the table, I'll be waiting by the phone for HBO to call me and schedule my own comedy-in-the-round special. I've got a killer bit on bellybutton lint that I'm sure Generation Z will be all over like chicks on Brody Jenner.
