Flooky's Gyros
(not my actual lunch)
Flooky's: the name called to me at lunchtime today. How could I not take a chance at a place called Flooky's? The menu offered plenty of options for a $5 Lincoln Lunch and I settled on a chicken gyros (say yeer-row).
The gyros by itself is $3.50, or with a soda and heaping of fries dusted with spices is $5.54. Other options: Southern Style Chili Dog, Maxwell Street Polish (dog comes with mustard, sauteed onions and pepperoncini) for $3.45, standard sandwiches for $4 to $4.65, or burgers ($2.05 to $4.65). Fries are about $.80 more on each. Flooky's also serves lunch all day. Omelets are $4.25.
But back to my gyros. The pita was warm and light, with grilled chicken aplenty, plus cucumber strips, tomatoes, and a really good sour cream-based secret sauce. Fries were excellent.
Visit Flooky's at 21034 Victory (in a restaurant strip on the north side of the street) at Variel in Woodland Hills. (818) 340-7797. Parking can be difficult. Indoor seating is counter-style.

Wow, I haven't had Flooky's in about 20 years. I can't believe they're still around! Good stuff.
