Shower curtain tip

I was about to throw out my nasty, mold-covered shower curtain (I can't believe I let it go this long!) and pony up another $6 for a new one when I visited home. My Mom's shower curtain was pristine, but didn't smell all plasticky like the brand new ones do. I mentioned this and she shared her secret: she washes it in the washer machine with soap and bleach (no clothes). It works!
