Toys made in USA

A lot of parents are freaked out, rightly so, about the Mattel toy recalls (mostly because of high levels of lead paint). So the comparison shopping Web site Shopzilla did a little reserach into where people can buy toys online that are made in the good 'ol USA. Haven't checked these out yet so I can't vouch for them, but I thought you would be interested. connect-four.jpg

Shopzilla also compiled this list of items that are American Made: Bicycle Playing Cards, Battleship, Boggle Jr., Candyland, Chutes and Ladders, Clue, Connect Four, Crayola Crayons*, Life, Louisville Slugger, Monopoly, Mouse Trap, Operation, Parcheesi, Play-Doh*, Pop-O-Matic Trouble, Radio Flyer Discovery Wagon, Scrabble, Sorry, Stratego, Tri-ominos, Trivial Pursuit, Yahtzee, and anything from American Plastic Toy Company.

* Some Crayola Crayons and Play-Doh containers are NOT made in the USA. Check the label.

Games have evolved a lot since I grew up playing Connect Four and Parcheesi (one summer my sisters and I played it non stop for like two weeks) but I bet kids will still get a kick out of the classic toys on the list. Fun is fun, right?

Games........Yah! I love games, Recently, I purchased games from 'KB Toys' at CouponAlbum site and saved 15% off with free shipping and an expensive free gift. Just enjoy shopping here!!!

I love that you've listed some products made in the US. Ever since the pet food recall, I've been so angry, if I need to buy anything - coffee mugs, lawn chairs, etc. - I make sure they're not made in China... and if they're made in the US, all the better.

Also, loved your Bargain Hunter column today.

I can't rave enough about coupon clipping. I started back when I was working ten hour days at an office (I'm freelance now). But, point is, I find taking the time to clip coupons is totally worth it.

My most thrilling coupon moment was my Ralph's Thanksgiving shopping last year (tons of relevant coupons around the holidays). Yes, I stocked up on gourmet stuff (brandy for gravy, the best sourdough for stuffing, oranges and organic cranberries for homemade sauce). Only the best. Yet!! I saved 50% on my bill - a whopping $100.00 bucks.

So let people laugh at me at cocktail parties - yes, a friend at a party blurted, "What?!! You clip coupons?!" as if I said I wear adult diapers. I just laughed... sure, sucker, you toss your money away and laugh at me.

I average 25-30% off my grocery bills when I take the time to clip. Of course, only buying items I would normally buy. No cookies or processed junk for me - detergent, pet food, cereal, etc.

Sorry, I got carried away. Saving money does that to me.

Anyway, great column.
