What is a Lincoln Lunch?

Ever wonder if it's possible to get lunch in the Valley for five bucks? You have to look closely, but there is a way, my friend. I call my five dollar meals a Lincoln Lunch because ol' prez Abe's beard, arched brows and resolute lips grace the five dollar bill. My friend Patrick, the editorial cartoonist at the Daily News, drew this awesome picture after we found a Lincoln Lunch at Boulevard Burgers in Woodland Hills (21718 Ventura Blvd). Check out more of his drawings here.

If you haven't checked out Flooky's in Woodland Hills (The one on Victory and Variel NOT Canoga near Roscoe) you should. They offer great lunch meals. Prices run out the door from $6-$7.50 and for this you get an entree, Drink and side item (fries, onion rings, soup, salad - Potato, Fruit, Mac or Green) They have everything from Hamburgers, Hotdogs, Sandwiches, Gyros, Chicken Nuggets. Most everything is made fresh there. Flooky's also has the best breakfast in town. $2.98 out the door for a Breakfast Burrito filled with Eggs, Cheese, Potatoes, Bacon+Ham+Sausage (Yes, all 3 included). Or for $3.19 out the door you can opt for the Plate which is 2 Eggs, Potatoes, Toast and your choice of 3 pieces of Bacon, Ham or Sausage. Check them out.

New Lincoln Lunch?

I visited Sizzling Wok, at 7070 Sepulveda Blvd, just south of Victory, in the same shopping center as Jon's Market and WAMU. (It's to the right of WAMU)
Their Combo #1 for $3.85 includes a heaping plate of fried rice, chow mein noodles, and your choice of entree.
Soda was extra - I got a medium and the total was $5.50.

They even have a "bowl" for $3.09, one entree over Chow Mein or Rice. Definitely less than $5.00 . . .

And the food was fine - I've already been back.
