Hi Julia!

Just want to let you know I saw you posted the info I gave you regarding Steve and Barry's. Haven't gone back to that store yet and so I don't know if the prices have decreased further. Will sure let you know once I go there again. Moreover, I would like to share this fabulous website that has both online and in store coupons. Its more of like slickdeals and wow coupons combined. The url is http://dealspl.us/
I found it when I accidentally stumbled upon it when I was googling for a laptop sleeve. I just think they are more organized and I love the layout.
That's it for now! And hope you're feeling better!

RE: Food4Less. Our local Food4Less in North Hills has a gas station. You automatically receive discount coupons depending on how much you spend in the market. When you buy gas, you redeem the coupon and receive cash. This has us shopping there as often as possible.

An added note on purchasing prom dresses: many Goodwill and Salvation Army stores have an amazing selection of prom dresses if you're willing to look through the racks - the Salvation Army store in Glendale had some beautiful gowns for an inexpensive price.

Maybe if the paper would stop reducing it's size and content (esp Willie N' Ethel), and would try to be more like USA Today, they would have a chance. I used to be able read it for 30 minutes, now it is about 2!! Lets see, $30 a month/60 =??

I can read online a day before news is printed also.

Thanks for your column though.

I just got back from eating lunch at the Laughing Duck grill, a Glatt Kosher restaurant, located at 12422 Burbank Blvd., just east of Whitsett Ave. in North Hollywood. I was told the restaurant has been there for 3 years. Ironically, I live a mile away and it was my first time eating there. I had a delicious and filling Falafel pita. A true Lincoln Lunch for $5.00. The surprise was the great salad bar. You can load up your pita with as much as you want for free. An array of scrumptious, marinated veggies and salads. Beets, eggplant, carrots, peppers, and on and on. I also purchased a refillable, self-serve fountain drink for $1.50. My bill came out to $6.50 plus tax. Pay at the register when you order. There is no waiter service, but my pita was delivered to my table when it was ready. In addition, they offer other fire-roasted meats and kabobs, at higher prices, but their specialty pita sandwiches include, Shawarma, Roast Beef with carmelized onions, and BBQ beef for $7.00. Their phone number is 818.508.5557. Thanks to Julia, I love to save a buck in the Valley!

Stopped at A&S (the $1 bookstore in Burbank) on Sunday & bought five books by my favorite mystery authors. At a $1 each, it was actually cheaper than going to my local used bookstore and a LOT less expensive than Barnes & Noble. A&S is a real find for an insatiable reader. Thanks, Julia!

Hi Bargain Hunter! I thought you should know about a big event happening at the Ikea in Burbank this coming weekend. please click on my url for details. feel free to rip the photo of the banner to use on your blog.

wanted to share my name an e-mail for the $99.00 Morton's steak dinner certificate, but, there seemed to be no place to register. where and how do I do this?

Julia Scott Author Profile Page said:

Click on the link in the Morton's blog post. It will take you to the Morton's Web site, where you can register to get a certificate that lets you order the $99 meal for two (it is not normally on the menu). If you cannot find it, try using the search box on the left. Enter a keyword and all the blog posts with that word will come up. Hope that helps. ~Julia

Hello Julia!

Thank you for all your helpful info!
I wanted to let you and the readers know about one little "bargain" you printed though.

It was a couple of weeks ago about a new hair salon opening up in N.H. on Magnolia Blvd. that was offering a free haircut, deep conditioning, etc..
Well I called and learned that yes, the haircut was "free", but that the blowdry was $25.00. When I proceeded to tell this woman that not only did I not want a blowdry, but that I would not need a blowdry...She proceeded to tell me that she would not "finish" the haircut until after the blowdry, and that it was necessary for the haircut offer. So basically I must get the blowdry to have a good haircut, not to mention a "free" one at that!

So to make a long story short...this "freebie" haircut wasn't a bargain afterall. It was just a cheap haircut!

I'm looking for the name and number of the store that sells contractors or builders surplus stock such as door nobs, sinks, etc. It is located somewhere in the Valley.
