Gettin' my drink on
I'm set for wine for like, 6 months. Hubby tipped me off to a wine sale at Albertson's after I asked him to pick up a tasty bottle given to us by our neighbor (her dog did a number 1 *and* a number 2 on our rug).
Seems like a good third of the bottles were marked down when I dropped in. I got a bottle of Smoking Loon Chardonnay and Smoking Loon Merlot for $6 each (orig both $10), a bottle of Fat Bastard Chardonnay and Fat Bastard Shiraz for $10 each (orig both $12), and a bottle of Pepperwood Chardonnay for $5 (orig $10).
But my big score was five bottles of Ravenswood Vinter's Blend 2005 Zinfandel for $8.09 each (orig $11). My neighbor said it was one of her favorite low-budget wines and I whole heartedly agree. It's mild, unlike a lot of cheap vino that beats up your tongue, but flavorful. You can also get it for $8 at BevMo but then there's shipping to think of.
I felt like an alcoholic checking out with 10 bottles of wine and...
...NOTHING ELSE in my cart. Would a gallon of milk even things out? Didn't help that at the register one of the guys bagging my huge load of booze said "Somebody's going to get their DRINK on tonight and I'm not going to be there!" Hmmm, maybe he was just trying to solicit an invitation. :-)
With the discounts (which require a club card) I saved $27. I got another 10% off every bottle because I bought more than six, bringing my savings to $35.20. I paid $80 for the 10 bottles. Not too shabby! Unclear how long the sale lasts. Find an Albertson's near you.

There is a BevMo in Northridge by the Northridge Mall, I wonder if they offer the same price at the store??
