Free music downloads
Can't take any credit for finding out about this cool Web site on my own. But I'll give you the low down just the same. AmieStreet.com sells music downloads that start with a price I like - free! The more times a song is downloaded the more the price goes up, topping out at 98-cents, a penny below industry standard. Almost all of the songs on their Top 20 are 98-cents.
You can listen to the first 30 second of each song but before buying you have to register, which is free (requires name, email, zip code). They ask what types of music you like and there are a ton of choices - what the heck is screamo? Amie St users leave recommendations for music and you get "street cred" if a song you recommend goes up in price. The site says 70 percent of the fees go to the artists.
I would download "Starlet Johansson" by The Teenagers - a catchy Euro-pop tune - for 18-cents but I'm embarrassed to admit I don't know how to connect my iPod to my computer. Where is Hubby when I need him? I'm living in the dark ages!
Thanks, Andrew!
