Nice update on the grocery store sales.

I would encourage you to try the price matching prgram at Wal-Mart.

Granted, at the three valley locations (Canoga Park, Panorama City (recently remodeled and an old Broadway) and Porter Ranch) and the three in the Santa Clarita Valley may not be Supercenters (except for one in Santa Clarita), they offer extensive grocery departments, primarily packaged and refridgerated goods and no service deli, seafood, meat, produce departments.

The point is, by taking all the ads that come in your paper and mailbox, you really can save bundles, use coupons and not have to run around a bunch of stores.

I'm not sure which Wal-Mart you are closest to, Canoga Park maybe? But, it's worth a try.

The price match program works very, very well on name brand grocery items and produce items.

As I mentioned before, Wal-Mart will not match prices on store brand (private label) items and the price match program is not limited to food, it's any item they carry that a competitor has for less, and you have the corresponding ad. (Target, CVS, Rite-Aid, Fry's, etc.)

Maybe, you could even try price matching here at the Supercenter in Santa Clarita and let us know your experience, without having a Wal-Mart p.r. flack next to you. You and editor could make an afternoon out of it!

Also, I see the Daily News is still available up in the AV, so for readers up that way, Winco has great prices everyday, requires no nmmbership or club card, they take coupons, checks, cash and pin-based debit cards (no actual credit cards).

Also, don't forget to scan through the ads from the hispanic-themed format stores. You will see that many of these stores are offering one day sales for several days during the week the ad runs, similar to Albertsons 8 hour and 3 day sales. I picked up store brand rice for .99c for a 3 lb bag, and yesterday, Thursday, whole chicken at .89c lb from Tresierras (Pacoima and Newhall).

Have a nice weekend,

SCRS

P.S. London was great, but expensive, just had to look for deals on food, but good weather and great flights on Air New Zealand.

P.P.S. As you probably already know, in the same shopping center (Bridgeport) where Red Mango and Robeks are opening, Supervalu is opening a Bristol Farms in October of this year. So the money I save at Wal-Mart, I'll blow at Bristol Farms. LOL
