Funeral for fido
A pet-only funeral home just opened in Florida, confirming my suspicions that the sun really has gone to Floridians' heads. We Angelenos may be in danger too! A story by the TV station Local 6 says the Pet Angel Memorial Center "offers human touches to help pet owners mourn their animals, including viewing areas and a space for services. The service is part of a growing interest in pet loss services."
The owner started the funeral home because she wanted her "four-legged children" treated the same as the two-legged ones. Pet Angel handles arrangements for all sorts of pets, from dogs to iguanas, with services starting at $150 and going up to thousands of dollars.
Attitudes are changing, clearly. I guess I'm a little behind the times. My first thought about how to dispose of a furry friend is to grab a shovel and dig a hole in the back yard.
