Pershing Square is rumored to have free concerts but the two events listed on their Web site are in the past! An employee tells me there are free outdoor concerts Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 2 and every Wednesday night starting July 30 from 8 to 10pm. The Wednesday night series ends August 20. Call (213) 847-4970 for more info.
