Ralphs limits double coupon policy
A new policy at Ralphs limits the maximum savings from any one coupon to $1, according to a story in today's Daily News. Coupons for 50 cents or less will be doubled in full, but coupons for more than 50 cents will be limited to $1. The new policy begins today.
"That new program will include lower prices on thousands of items that customers buy most often," the story says. "It will also introduce a customer loyalty program that will use a "rewards card" to earn shoppers rebates of up to $1,000 a year." Read more about Ralphs reward program.
Vons still doubles coupons. Is it time to switch grocery stores? Depends on how many coupons you use.

Sure you can earn up to $1,000.00 in rewards - but you would have to spend $100,000.00 to do it. If you can afford to spend that amount, you don't need a rewards card. And, points don't roll over, but expire at year's end, so any points earned below 500 are discarded. Thanks, Ralph's.
Ralph's is also eliminating their Pet Club rewards, which gives a $9.00 coupon for every $100.00 spent on pet products (and donated $1.00 to animal causes). And this is progress? And this is in the consumers' best interests? I think.....um.... no!
And don't get me started on eliminating double coupons!!
And at the same time Ralph's was announcing these cutbacks, the LA Times reported that parent company Kroeger's profits were up by 15%
Yeah, time to switch markets.
Vons, you'll be getting my business now! To hell with Ralphs. They're too greedy.
Vons, you'll be getting my business now! To heck with Ralphs. They're too greedy.
First Ralph's started by essentially eliminating their full page coupon add that came in the Sunday Daily News, manufacturer coupons are minimal....and now THIS! Unbelievable! I have had enough of this, espcially considering their profits are on the rise. If they want to save some money, they may consider turning off some of the lights after midnight, maybe even lowering the thermostat!!!

Ralphs declared last week that we would find lower prices starting Wednesday. I went there today and found lower prices alright but the original prices were higher than other stores. So their prices are now equal to other stores and have lost my business as well.
Milk doesn't count toward rewards:
*Restrictions:
Points accumulate in every department except fuel, prescriptions, Ralphs gift cards, postage stamps, lottery tickets, Western Union, money orders, transit passes, fees, phone activation, sales tax, alcohol, tobacco, CRV, fluid milk and milk products, and any products prohibited by law.
In addition to leaving your comments here, everyone needs to email ralphs.com to express their displeasure with this change. They need to hear from loads of people as well as staying out of their stores. We can also call the store manager to express our outrage. United we can be heard!

Well I've been shopping at the same Ralphs at Saticoy and White Oak for over 50 years, and I guess it's time for a change of stores.
Years ago I cut my shopping down at Ralphs from once a week to once a month. Trader Joe's is cheaper on a lot of things. I only buy at Ralphs what I can't buy there. Of course there is Costco too.
Please, please, please leave your comments at Ralphs.com, too. If we complain in large numbers NOW they may reconsider some of the changes. Also, ask your friends and family to complain to the website as well.
This is propaganda crap!
I am a coupon **** Yes, it takes time to sit there and cut out coupons, shop wih them and compare prices and coupons to see what would be the best deal for your money, but it is sooo worth it!
I love my coupons and use my coupons and need my coupons to save my family money!
and with doule coupons, I really do save $$$.
The only reason that I would shop at Ralphs in the 1st place is because they offer double coupons! Usually their prices are high, but with a coupon it's affordable.
For ex. When you have something on sale such as two boxes of cereal for $4 and then you apply a $1 coupon and then ralphs doubles that coupon...you basically get two boxes of cereal for only $2!!!
To raise and feed three children, I need these kind of deals!
Their prices better be a "whole lot lower" to make up for this b.s....
when von's stopped doubling coupons people stayed away, it was a ghost town at their stores. vons brought back doubling and now ralphs needs to go through the same loss of customer loyality. I have 3 dogs; no pet program, no doubling of coupons greater than $.50 no shopping at ralphs.
My family and I have been in Moorpark for more than 20 years, and have been very loyal Ralph's shoppers. We really like the managers and checkers at the store on New L.A. Ave. Now, when times are the hardest (financially), they cut back on their policy of doubling coupons. Can't they SEE that they are going to lose loads of loyal customers? It's during the hard times that the company should make sure they don't gouge their customers. If they truly respect the consumers, they will tighten their belts along with us. That way, they will retain their cusomers. They should have maintained their coupon doubling, because it put them at the top. Now that I know that Von's is still doubling coupons, I will be forced to change stores. I can't remember the last time I set foot in a Von's. Change is hard.
I couldn't agree more. I will be shopping at Von's, Trader Joe's or How's from now on (Wow's and Vons still take double coupons). Their rewards program is TERRIBLE. So far I have earned 12 points. Woo-hoo! Not! I am off to e-mail realph's directly as well. Too bad.
