Free ride to the Dodgers game
You can now catch a free shuttle to Dodgers games. The freebie rides leave from Union Station and will save you $15 in stadium parking.
"The 'Dodger Trolley' will begin running 90 minutes before game time and conclude 60 minutes after the game ends," according to a story in the Daily News. Shuttles leave about every 10 minutes and the ride takes 16 to 19 minutes. After the game shuttles return folks to Union Station.
Combine this money-saver with $4 Dodger tickets and you are really saving a wad!

I talked to the Dodger Trolley people yesterday. The trolley will run continuously from 90 minutes before until 60 minutes after the game. Every 10 minutes until game time then every 20-25 minutes until the end of the game, then will run every 10 minutes again. So if you need to leave early because of the kids or whatever you can leave whenever you want.
Where is Union Station located at?

I intended to take the trolley to last night's game from the Valley. But halfway to downtown (and the traffic was moving pretty good), I decided I wasn't sure if taking the subway as a woman alone after 10:30 at night was such a good idea. So I drove downtown and figured I would park in a lot near Union Station and take the trolley. Except that all the parking lots at Union Station cost $14 -- only a buck less than Dodger Stadium! The attendant said there was a lot a couple of blocks away that was $6-7 bucks, but I decided to drive around Chinatown as there are usually meters available for free after 6pm. Found one near Philippe's and walked to Union Station. Trolley was crowded but fine. Took about 15 minutes to get up there. Coming back was a different story. The Dodgers still haven't figured out that whether you are in a trolley or in your car, it STILL takes about half an hour to get out of the parking lot. Unless they create one lane just for buses and trolleys, it will end up taking you nearly 40 minutes to get to Union Station. Then I had to walk 4-5 blocks in the dark whistling to keep the spirits away until I got safely to my car but I decided never again. The trolley is a great idea for day games or if you taking the subway in from the Valley, Pasadena, etc. with a group of people. At least it's free (for now). Wonder how long before the McCourt's decide to start charging for that too to cover the cost of the drivers..? Go Blue...
