Use less water. Save money. Capice?
A newish blog at the Daily News called Green Spirited has a quick tip for how to cut your water bill. Install an aerator on the end of your kitchen faucet.
An aerator "mixes air with the water flow cutting the sheer volume of water used nearly in half without affecting your pressure. And you save oodles of energy used to heat the hot water, cuz you're using less water."
"When shopping for an aerator, look for one that has a flow rate of 2.2 gallons per minute (or less), which can save up to three gallons a day. It's easier than skipping showers, Tommy Lee."
Screwing on an aerator sounds easy. Hardware stores like Home Depot sell them. Ace Hardware has a simple one for $7.50.

The LADWP and The Gas Company will give you aerators for free. The Gas Company just sent some out a few months ago. The LADWP has a procedure on their website "3. Replace your showerhead with a new high efficiency showerhead; install water saving faucet aerators in your bathroom and kitchen. Free showerheads and aerators are available at any LADWP customer service center. To find a location near you, click here: Customer Service Centers"
You need to show them a current LADWP bill and they keep track of what they give you, but the items are FREE.
