Back to School daily deal...fashion trends
Yesterday's LA.com cover had a big spread on how old school clothes are the newest thing in back to school fashion.
"Oversize clothes and worn-out shoes made generations of schoolchildren cringe, fearing reprisals in the school corridors and a lifetime of psychological scars," the story says. "But times have changed."
Unique, creative, and vintage are in. Writer Emily Henry lists trendy items to look for whether you are perusing vintage racks or a cruising through a department store.
Vintage finds
+ "Tiny-fit shrunken blazers: You can pair them with T-shirt dresses, high-waist skirts, jeans ... you name it."
+ "Grunge revival: Think Courtney Love in the 1990s with her baby-doll dresses and combat boots. Try plaids and flannel prints, mixed with girly skirts and dresses. Look for 1980s and 1990s rompers and suspender dresses."
+ "Tiny-fit feather motorcycle...
...jackets: They're in high demand right now. Celebs such as Mary-Kate Olsen have been snapped wearing them since the beginning of summer, and the trend looks set to follow through into fall."
+ "High-waist skirts: Wear them with stockings and loose-fit white, black or gray T-shirts."
+ "Clear, nerdy glasses: They are the ultimate chic accessory."
Department store finds
+ "Layer with the basics: Try vests over T-shirts, long-sleeve shirts under short-sleeve, and leggings with baby-doll and T-shirt dresses."
+ "Artistic, graffiti-style graphics and bold, statement prints: You'll find them on items ranging from T-shirts to tote bags."
+ "Plaid prints: They're showing up on shorts and dresses."
+ "'80s-inspired designs and throwbacks with a rocker theme: Look for boxer boots, statement jewelry, bold colors - especially purple and orange - and miniskirts."
+ "Skulls: Scary prints for teens, happier prints for younger kids."

I saw a couple of young girls today who where straight out of the '80s. Big hair, scrunchies, "Flashdance"-esque tops ... I needed to take a quick urine test to make sure they didn't slip something into my 10th cup of coffee.
