Lucky You Resale

I was driving to lunch when I spotted a sign for Lucky You Resale, which buys used clothes and resells them. The boutique is small and easy to search. Jeans are organized by size, tops by color. Purses are in the front, shoes are in the back.

I saw a pair of dark Miss Sixty jeans with gold buttons riding up each leg for $22, an Ann Taylor petite silver dress for $3 (it was in a big size), and a chocolate clutch for $15 that had a light spot about the size of a pencil eraser. Hardly noticeable at night.

While many retailers are struggling (Mervyn's, Linens 'n Things, and many furniture stores), co-owner Dina Kimmel swears the boutique is thriving. They are getting in many more top brands and labels as locals sift through their closets to sell clothes and make a little extra cash. As she spoke she dug up a Kooba purse from a mound of incoming items. Kimmel plans to sell it for $50.

Visit them at 12441 Magnolia Blvd. in North Hollywood just east of Whitsett Ave. (818) 985-1115. The store is open Monday to Saturday 10 to 6 and Sunday from 12 to 4. Returns are accepted within five days with tags and receipt.
