Prices rising? You bet
The latest data from the Consumer Price Index, which represents the change in prices for everyday consumer goods like food, transportation and housing, rose .8 percent from June to July.
The bureau of labor statistics in the U.S. department of labor tracks the CPI, also known as inflation, which is a key indicator of economic health.
Compared to a year ago, the CPI is 5.6 percent higher nationwide, according to a story in the Boston Globe.
Have your paycheck or stocks risen that much? Ha!

I'm a teacher with LAUSD. We haven't gotten a raise in 2 years -- despite the state giving the district MULTI-MILLIONS last year designated expressly for that. Where did the $$$ go??? The school district is cheating its own employees out of desperately needed cost-of-living pay. Why is this not in the news? It's illegal and outrageous.
