Best prices for flu shots
Fall officially started Monday and already I'm seeing ads for flu shot clinics. Here's a roundup of who offers what and at what price. Note, most places do not offer the shot everyday so check ahead exactly when you can get one.
Costco charges $20 for the flu shot and also offers a $35 pneumonia shot. If you have the Medicare Part B card and no HMO insurance, Costco will bill Medicare for you and you will not have a co-pay. You do not have to have a Costco card to use the pharmacy, AND THIS IS ALSO TRUE FOR FLU SHOTS. Heard it straight from the horse's mouth.
Get a $30 shot at Safeway/Vons/Pavillions and get a 10% off coupon for a grocery purchase within 7 days. Find one offering flu shots near you. For the hours the clinic is open at the store near you, click on the link flu shot underneath each store location. They accept Medicare Part B.
Longs Drug's has the flu shot for $30 or $45 for the pneumonia vaccine. Info and locations on this page.
CVS charges $30. Find a clinic...

Rite Aid is charging $30 for a flu shot or nothing if you have Medicare Part B. Participating stores will offer the shot October 16, 17 and 18 between 2 and 6pm. Find a clinic near you.
Walgreens begins administering the vaccine in October.
My doctor's office is charging $30 per shot. Last year I got both influenza AND strep throat so I am definitely going to shell out $30 for the privilege of getting poked in the arm. The shot takes about three weeks to take effect and does not protect you from the common cold.
Some places have age requirements to get a shot, typically 9 years old, but sometimes it is older.

If you are a member of Kaiser they have FREE flu shots every year.
Facey also has flu shot clinics--usually several spread around the Valley. They never ask for ID or if you are a Facey client; and the lines are always long in the beginning and then slow down. They allow children (and elderly I think) in special lines so you don't have to wait so long.
I'm not sure who the horse is you are referring to at Costco, but maybe it was I (the horse's ass...lol) that posted that no membership card is required to shop at a pharmacy within a club store within California, which for the most part would be Costco and Sam's Club.
It's actually a state law written during the days of Fedco, Fedmart and Gemco that requires membership stores to allow anyone to obtain prescriptions from the pharmacy at the member price. Costco restricts the non-member pharmacy purchase to cash, pin-based debit and AMEX (no checks) and Sam's allows cash, pin-based debit, Master Card and Discover (no checks).
Costco isn't doing us a favor, just following the law.

Minute Clinic offers flu shots for $30.00. We are open 7 days a week and you don't need an appointment. We also have contracts with some insurance companies(enter insurance information at minuteclinic.com or call 1-866-389-2727
I paid $25 this morning at Ralphs Pharmacy.
They only have certain hours where the shots are available, so check in advance. Service was reasonably quick and the shot only hurt a normal amount. So far so good.
It takes 2 weeks to kick in -- I'll have to avoid the flu on my own over our holiday travels!!
Thanks for the info. Good to know there are still flu shots available. ~Julia
