Hundreds of museums free this Saturday!
Get a free admission pass to hundreds of museums across the country this Saturday, September 27. If the museum is closed Saturday the freebie day is Sunday, September 28. Print the pass here. You can bring one guest in with it but you must have the card to get in free.
Find a participating museum near you. Museums in California that are free are listed here. A purple square means the free day is Sunday, September 28, 2008. A white full moon means it may not be free. Check with the museum for details.
In LA, free museums this weekend include the Getty, Long Beach Museum of Art, Museum of Tolerance (Sun), the Fowler Museum at UCLA and a few others.
In NYC the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum is not free.
Caveats: one time use. Pass does not include entry to special exhibits or IMAX screenings. One per household. Not for use with any other offer. No rain checks. Thanks, Etan!

Two friends and I went to the Getty this a.m. to see the Bernini sculpture exhibit. WOW!!! I highly recommend it to anyone interested in sculpture. Bernini was in at the onset of the Baroque period, and became renowned as a portraitist. His detailed work gives life to his pieces, and the folds, textures, etc., especially of "fabrics," are amazing. Be sure to take a good look at the Battenberg-type lace on one of the pieces. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself and a friend to this unique exhibit. There is a $10 charge for parking, but admission to the museum is free. Take more than one friend and share the parking cost. There are lots of food choices at the Cafe, which is on the lower level below The Restaurant.
The Getty is always free. You have to pay for parking, though
