Cheapo couples Halloween costumes

RedandBlueStatemap.jpgHere is another quick and cheap Halloween costume, this time for a pair. Got the idea from the Budget Fashionista.

Have one person dress entirely in red and the other person in blue. What are you? A red and blue state! To make this more clear, write the name of a traditionally "red" or "blue" states on a piece of paper and pin it on.

You can put the costume together for less than $20. Head to Goodwill if you need a particular color item.

4 sheets of poster board (white) or 4 panels of cardboard covered in white paper (etc). make large playing cards with magic markers, put straps on the top so they hang over your shoulders (in other words, signboards), cover more cardboard with foil to make crowns, voila! King & Queen of Hearts (or diamonds, etc). Difficult to sit down in..you can wear semi-fancy dress underneath...if you have any old unused jewelry, it can be glued onto the crown...if you're going as the Queen of Hearts remember to bring a dish of tarts for the potluck...if there's a third person, he could come as the Knave and try to steal them...
A white sheet, a crown, a book and a flashlight (for a woman): Statue of Liberty.
A cardboard box (to fit), same hangers over the shoulder, cover the box in brick patterned crepe paper or contact type paper: "Built like a brick ____ house"..
Little Red Riding Hood: inexpensive red skirt (gathered, long) from thrift store...open vertical seam, take out length to make hood (if you don't sew, you can use stapler for the single use), wear plain dress underneath, simple shoes, basket for goodies for Grandmother...if there's a male, they can be a wolf, but just dress up as modern wolf...fake (eyeliner) mustache, slicked back hair....maybe an ascot...he can make wolf whistles at Red...etc..
