Dozens of museums free this weekend
Museums LA, a group that promotes local museums, is sponsoring free admission to 24 cultural, historic and art institutions this weekend, October 4 and 5, 2008.
The museums will offer free admission to visitors on both days or one day. Participating museums include the Autry National Center, California African American Museum, Craft and Folk Art Museum, Japanese American National Museum, Los Angeles Fire Museum & Memorial, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, and the Skirball Cultural Center.

Caveats: You still have to pay for parking. The free pass may not apply to ticketed exhibitions. Advance reservations may be needed for some exhibitions.
Thanks, Punam!

Do I need to down load a coupon to attend. There was a similar offer last week that you needed a coupon for free admission. Thanx
Good question. MuseumsLA.org does not mention needing a coupon, but I would call the museum(s) you want to visit to double check. I called the Bowers Museum and they said no coupon was needed.
Remember to check which day is the free day. Not all of the museums are free Saturday AND Sunday. ~Julia
