Baby clothes exchange and free parenting classes
The Family Resource Center at Los Angeles Valley College in Van Nuys has two free perks that may make it worthwhile to stop by. The center is open to the community.
The center offers free mommy-and-me type classes for parents of children up to 30-months old. The center also has a free baby clothing exchange.
Classes are not for credit and are taught by a child development instructor, said Marni Roosevelt, director of the center. Parents who sign up for a class can borrow parenting books from the center's library. For more info about parenting classes and to sign up call (818) 778-5612 and ask for Jeannette.
The clothing exchange is for kids up to age 3. Bring in your kid's clean, gently used clothes and pick out a few items. Clothing donations are not tax deductible. For more info about the clothing exchange call Kathleen Weislein at (818) 778-5528.
The center also has info about where parents can find childcare. It is located in bungalow 49. A campus map is here. Thanks, Punam!

I went with my 14 month old baby and we both loved it. Very sweet room with lots of nice toys and a great teacher who is NOT judgemental about parenting styles!
I haven't used the clothing exchange yet, but definitely plan on it. The clothes are beautiful.
