Target cutting prices to catch Wal-Mart
Target is going to cut toy prices during the holidays to compete with Wal-Mart, according to a story in yesterday's Daily News. The cuts are prompted by a 24 percent drop in third-quarter earnings.
"Target has fared worse than its chief rival, Wal-Mart Stores Inc., as consumers cut back on discretionary spending and shop mainly for necessities," the story says. "More than 40 percent of Target's revenue comes from nonessentials such as fashions and housewares."
The story continues "During the holidays, Target will remain "keenly focused" on offering low prices on national brands and its own products and will match Wal-Mart prices on identical items in local markets, said Kathryn Tesija, Target's executive vice president of merchandise."
I'm guessing Target will make these price drops crystal clear to shoppers, so stay tuned!

Sounds like this is more trouble than it's worth. This means that you will need to find out what prices are at Walmart before going to Target so you can get the matched price. Why doesn't Target just lower their prices without having the consumer doing all the investigative work? If you don't know that prices are lower at Walmart and you go to Target and pay the higher prices, then you are out of luck for finding a better deal. No thanks, I don't have that kind of time to spare. I'll just shop at Walmart and forget the running around.
Targets prices are lower than Walmart on a lot of items with ess waiting time. (household)
well i know that a lot of things are more expensive at target like tolet paper soap but some things are the same price so guess if they lower it and make it mach or beet walmart i will shop there
