Watch out. Your rebate check may bounce.
Ouch. Bargain hunters have to watch out for rebate checks that may bounce. In this tough economy, retailers are not the only ones hurting. Continental Promotion Group, a company that processes rebates, filed for bankruptcy Friday. That means uncashed rebate checks through them will bounce.
Folks who did business with the company should have received letters warning them that their rebate checks may bounce if they have not already cashed them. If you have not cashed your CPG rebate check do not cash it unless you want to pay bounce fees.
To check if you have an outstanding rebate with CPG, check if the address...
...where you are supposed to send the paperwork is:
P.O. Box 52900 (or P.O. Box 52911)
Phoenix, AZ 85072-2900
This is a major CPG mail in address, according to SlickDeals. You can also check the status of your rebate online. If your rebate is listed, you may be affected by the bankruptcy.
For more info, Slick Deals has more info on the rebate mess, including phone numbers of various brand rebates with CPG and a list of brands that have recently had deals with reabtes.
A story in the Tampa Bay Business Journal has info about the bankruptcy filing. A tech blog explains the rebate system in the context of CPG going under.
Thanks, Hubby!
