Goodbye 2008, hello 2009!
I'm taking off the rest of the week to celebrate the new year with my family (or stay home sick in bed - I can't tell how bad my cold is yet). I have had so much fun saving money with you all this past year. I can't wait to see what 2009 holds.
Have a fabulous New Year's Eve and I will see you next year!
~Julia

Feel better. I recommend Cold FX. It's an over the counter product made in Canada. Sometimes it's a little hard to find but generally you can get it at Rite-Aid or CVS. Good luck and happy new year!
I swear by Airborne! I take it daily just for the vitamins, etc. You should give it a try (if you havn't already). You need to take it at the beginning signs of a cold though ...
I like Airborne, too, and I have been taking it. I'm also eating extra Vitamin C, drinking tea, eating soup, all the usual suspects. ~Julia
Take care of your cold. Lot's of rest. While you're in bed, hubby can bring you warm soup, juice and anything else you need...like the iPhone...lol
Anyway, here's a neat two-day savings deal on Southwest Airlines for travel to Las Vegas. Southwest is having a 50% off sale, but only today and tommorrow, December 30 and 31, 2008.
Travel is vaild from any Los Angeles area airport Southwest serves (Burbank, LAX, Santa Ana-Orabge County and Ontario) between January 11 and March 11, 2009. The special is also valid from other Southwest cities that offer service to Las Vegas (not all do).
Of course, fares will be higher and/or not available around holiday weekends (King, Presidents, etc.) and the fares do not include tax, facility charges, segment fees and security charges.
In a sample itinerary from Burbank to Las Vegas, our round trip was $90, including taxes and fees. To me, this is higher than last year, but cheaper than where fares have been priced at over the last several months. I say that only because the price of jet fuel has tumbled, so I would expect airline fares at the deeply discounted level to fall as well.
At least with Southwest, you don't get charged extra fees for baggage (you may check two at no charge) and complimentary soft drinks on board (and snacks depending on the length of the flight) are free. No fee to make changes to non-refundable tickets either.
Too bad Southwest doesn't fly to foreign destinations...yet. I think New York La Guardia in 2009 will be foreign enough for Southwest when that service begins next summer...LOL
Tickets are non-refundable.

Thanks for the heads up about the Southwest sale. Sounds like a good deal. ~Julia
Hi, Julia ~
Fingers are crossed that your cold gets better soon. I had one for several days, and still have the lingering annoying nasal drip and accompanying hacking cough. My youngest son's "cold" went on for 3+ weeks! Of course, he had to work, and I didn't. Sounds like you're doing all the right things, with rest and fluids being the most important. Warm wishes for a Happy New Year (with or without family). See you in 2009. E :O)
Thanks for your well wishes, Ellie. ~Julia
Hate to tell you that a cold is caused by a virus, which just has to run its miserable course. Taking any/all of that other stuff is fine if it makes you feel better. However, for some of those products, a placebo is a placebo. Again, if it makes you feel better, go for it!
