I have to add one more to this list, and it's fresh in my mind because I've been emailing with a friend about it this morning!

The problem? Last minute gift buying when you get everything on your list and all of a sudden think that you don't have enough. My friend was lamenting about what she had gotten for her sister and didn't think she had enough...but doesn't really have the funds to buy much more. I had the same panic about boyfriend's gifts this year, but then I stopped myself and said, you made a list & a budget for gifts this year...don't blow your budget now! When I made my list a month or two ago, I had plenty for everyone on my list. Nothing has changed, I have everything I said I was going to get for boyfriend. It was enough THEN, and it's enough NOW! And I'm pretty much right at the budget I set for myself!

Friend agreed that she probably had plenty for her sister...so I saved another person from spending more than originally intended! :)

Maggie, great tip! I have fallen into this trap before. It's really easy to let the holiday spirit persuade you to spend more. But reviewing your budget is a good way to stop yourself. ~Julia
