Have you been to the Circuit City liquidation sale?
How are the prices? Are they any better than the last round of liquidation sales? Leave a comment to share your experience.
One of my favorite savvy shoppers, Suzanne O'Connor at BargainsLA, warns away from liquidation sales.
"Most liquidation companies come in and mark prices up to or higher than the originally MSRP and then slowly lower prices from there," she said in an email. "The prices before the liquidation company came in often were lower than the liquidation price. These companies also may bring in other outside product to try to sell at these sales.
"Avoid these sales. Only go when the original companies are having markdowns and showing signs of distress. That's when the real deals will appear."
But I think it's a good idea to drop in now to see how prices are. Then wait until they drop to a price you are willing to pay.

I went yesterday, it's spot on what you say - prices are raised, and discounts are small - the price on a 52' Samsung after the 10% discount was about $400 more than I paid 3 months ago. Other than things like iPod's that never go on sale so 10% is a low price it's a complete waste of time for deal hunters.
10%? What a joke. Maybe that's why they're going out of business...I live in Ft Worth, TX and I also went to the local Circuit City on Tuesday, looking for goodies for my eBay auctions. 10% signs all over the store. Walmart is still cheaper. I'll go back in a few weeks. Maybe they'll be up to 15%....
I went to Circuit City on Monday and was pretty disappointed by the prices. Last week I purchased a camera from another store (competitor of CC) and got it for $170. Well, the same camera was $200 at CC and that was including the 10% discount.
I recommend gambling and waiting out a few weeks until they are offering at least 50% off , especially on big ticket items like TV's or computers. Then go price comparison it to BB and see if it's a deal.
This past weekend BB circular had a Samsung LCD with the added 120HZ 46" for 1449 and an LG 42" with the 120HZ feature for 1299. Awesome flippin deals.
AND YOU DO WANT THE 120HZ.
I went on Saturday and I did buy a digital camera $30 less than sunday's ad prices. But overall nothing was a bargain. I questioned one salesperson about the sales prices and he basically told me that the prices when down for black friday then up and now they are pretty much at the same price as black friday prices. I was looking at the Samsung TV's and checked online prices at home after visiting the store and found online prices were much better.
No need to go yet prices are not very good. FYI, Circuit city cards are no longer accepted.
There are more than a half-dozen reasons why Circuit City is going under, and they all aren't related to the lousy economy.
thanks for the alert on circuit city. I'm so enthused with your blog and so happy it continues at bargainbabe.com!
I went to Circuit City today after seeing "30% off!" signs all over the place.
When I got there, it took me forever to find the items that were actually 30% off and they were all Monster Cables which are 4x more expensive than equivalent cables from another brand, so really, there were no deals.
All the rest of the merchandise was 10% off except for some 15-20% off deals on cds and useless garbage.
Circuit City is totally clueless. They are going out of business because they are stupid. Good riddance. The country needs fewer big box retailers like this wasting concrete and space.
I should have known it was a waste of time when i didn't see anyone leaving the store with any merchandise. No one was buying anything. It was like a garage sale where everyone was looking around at the crap no one wants but was still over priced.
