When you should stop saving: bankruptcy

| | Comments (1) |

Stamp past_due.jpgThis week's issue of Newsweek makes a case for filing for bankruptcy. "If you're reaching the end of your rope, don't try to hold on," writes the mag's personal finance guru Jane Bryant Quinn. "Save what you can."

Are you tapping into your retirement to make ends meet? Is your home worth less than the mortgage plus your home-equity exemption?

If so you should consider filing, Quinn says in her persuasive column.

You should forward this to Dean. He could probably use the advice. Maybe even take a page or two from Zell's bankruptcy filing at Tribune...LOL

How much more money can he save at the Daily News without consolidating the whole thing with other LANG newspapers? I probably shouldn't ask as his minions are probably studying that right now!
