Another SoCal brewery turns to Kickstarter for funding

A short while back, the folks behind Sanctum Brewing Co. were successful in raising $40,000 via Kickstarter and are now looking at a fall opening for their Pomona brewery.

We’ve found another brewer who’s looking to open a tasting room in Rancho Cucamonga and has begun to raise funds using Kickstarter.

Hamilton Family Brewery recently posted its Kickstarter project and is seeking $25,000.

The brewery is well on its way to get funded, with over 10% of its goal attained already.

Gifts for backers range from keychains for $5 pledges all the way up to a private five-gallon brew session with the brewmaster for those who pledge $250 or more.

In between, there’s everything from koozies to T-shirts to growlers and pint glasses.

You don’t have to go into it blindly, however.

If you’ve decided to back them and want to sample the product, or are interested in backing them and want to chat with them before doing so, you’ll have your chance on Monday (July 15 29).

The family has brewed batches of two of their beers — 909 Wheat and RBI, a rye India pale ale Watermelon Blonde — and will be offering samples and talking to investors and potential investors in their back yard from 5 to 8 p.m.

If you’re over the age of 21 and want to attend, click here for details from the Facebook event page.

Update: Don’t believe what you read in the paper. Turns out it would be illegal for the Hamiltons to give away beer, according to the Alcohol Beverage Control. By holding a public tasting, they would risk a fine, a citation and the possible denial of their future beer license, which is something none of us want. To steer clear of all that, they have decided to cancel the public tasting.
