New brewery roundup: Pacific Plate, Federal, Coachella Valley open; Escape, Stone Summit, Alosta to come

The Southern California brewery boom continues unabated, with three new San Gabriel Valley and Inland Empire breweries opening recently and another three getting ready to open.

Monrovia’s first craft brewery, Pacific Plate Brewing Co., opened at the end of August. Pacific Plate’s brews are a mix of traditional (Bavarian Hefeweiss, English Mild Ale) and more experimental fare, often with a Latin flavor (Agave Wheat, Mango IPA, Horchata Stout). The brewery is open 4 to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Pacific Plate Brewing Co. is at 1999 S. Myrtle Ave. Read more here.

A pair of chemists are behind Federal Brewing in South El Monte, which just opened its tasting room at the end of September. Apparently, the brewers’ chemistry background is conducive to producing great beers…the brewery’s Yelp page has 14 reviews, all of them five-star. The brewery’s tasting room opens at 3 p.m. daily, and closes at 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 7 p.m. the rest of the week. Federal Brewing is at 1822 Chico Ave. Click here to read more.

Coachella Valley Brewing Co. opened its doors at the end of August. The brewery’s tasting room is open 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 1 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Coachella Valley Brewing Co. is at 30640 Gunther St., Thousand Palms. While their website is under construction, “Like” ’em on Facebook for updates.

Coming soon to Covina is Alosta Brewing Co. The owners (a pair of homebrewers with over 30 years of experience between them) are hoping to open the tasting room by the end of October. Alosta Brewing Co. is at 692 Arrow Grand Circle.

In the works in Big Bear Lake is Stone Summit Brewery. Owned by the folks who run Wolf Creek Resort, Bear Creek Resort and Fireside Lodge, the tasting room is set to open in early November. The brewery will also include a gastropub and will host live entertainment. Stone Summit is at 40827 Stone Road. Read more here.

Redlands will soon be home to a fourth brewery. Escape Craft Brewery is currently narrowing down its search for a location. Those looking for a preview of what to expect from Escape should get tickets to An Evening at the Burrage Mansion, as Escape will be one of the vendors providing beverages for the event.
