Falling Leaf Barrel Roll series beer available at Hangar 24 on Saturday, but with a twist

Falling Leaf 2015Hangar 24 Craft Brewery will release its latest Barrel Roll series beer, Falling Leaf, at its tasting room on Saturday (September 26).

Falling Leaf — a bourbon barrel-aged version of the brewery’s pumpkin-and-spice infused Gourdgeous imperial porter — was first released last year. Hangar is also releasing a Falling Leaf variant made with added cacao nibs, vanilla, chipotle and arbol chiles: The Mexican Cacao Edition.

That’s not the only twist, however.

For this release, the brewery is requiring customers to purchase the limited-edition brews online beforehand. On Saturday — and only on Saturday — the beers can be picked up at the tasting room.

On one hand, this is a good thing. No more getting up early on a Saturday and standing in line in the 100° heat to purchase your bottles, hoping to get to the front of the line before they sell out.

On the other hand, it’s a bad thing. If, for whatever reason, you can’t make it to the brewery on Saturday to pick up your bottles, you’ve just thrown away your money. And at $20 (Falling Leaf) and $25 (Falling Leaf Mexican Cacao Edition) per bottle, that’s not chump change. However, if you realize in advance that you won’t be able to make it to the tasting room on Saturday, at check-out, you can designate someone to do pick up your purchase.

If any bottles remain from the pre-sale, they will be available for sale beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

A limited amount of the beers will be available on tap at the brewery beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Also on the schedule for Saturday: The release of the brewery’s Wet Hop IPA and a set from the blues band 60 Grit beginning at 7 p.m.
