Torrance’s newest brewery, Scholb Premium Ales, finally has a soft opening this weekend with an abbreviated three beer line-up.

The brewery will open its doors at 2 p.m. Sunday serving their SoCal Blonde, Roll With Brown and a 6.6 percent ABV Bat Ray Red IPA:

Big hop and malt contributions combine to create this aggressive Red IPA brewed with a spectacular new hop grown by Hopsteiner (Experimental #07270). This extremely resinous hop features tropical fruit, tangerine, apricot, and pronounced spice characteristics. A substantial malt backbone counters filled with caramel and brown sugar flavors.

The brewery is at 2964 Columbia St., making it a (very) close neighbor of Absolution Brewing.

Absolution Brewing in Torrance celebrates expansion and second anniversary Saturday

absolution2nd

Torrance breweries are growing so quickly they are gobbling up available space just to keep pace.

Strand Brewing moved into spacious new quarters earlier this year and on Wednesday will exploit that extra elbow room with the kick-off of a series of Wednesday night, um, cornholing tournaments (check it out beginning at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday when a series of pick-up games start).

Smog City just punched a hole through an adjoining wall after a neighbor moved out giving it more elebow room to brew its popular range of experimental and innovative brews.

And now Absolution Brewing has increased its footprint four times over ahead of its second anniversary party this Sunday, which will boast a line-up of 22 beers.

Tickets, starting at $25, are available here.
