Not often enough, but you’ll get your chance Saturday (April 29).
Kings Brewing Co. in Rancho Cucamonga is celebrating its first anniversary from noon to 11 p.m. on that day. However, due to unfortunate circumstances, the proceeds from the event will help pay for medical bills for the daughter of one of the brewery’s owners.
Darlene Cooper is currently battling Ewing’s sarcoma/PNET, a rare form of cancer — fewer than 1,000 cases a year — that mostly affects kids between 6 and 18. The family- and dog-friendly event will be jam-packed, with face painting from noon-4 p.m. and games of Frisbee golf and cornhole.
There will be Team Darlene hats and shirts available for sale and also a raffle, with prizes ranging from a Starbucks gift basket to tools to a television. Gourmet hot dogs will be available from the Jojo’s Grill-A-Dog food truck and a bake sale is planned.
And the beer? Kings is planning to have more than two dozen brews available throughout the day, with a can release also part of the event.
The brewery has already had a little international help. Kings collaborated with a quartet of Spanish breweries recently — Naparbier, Guineu, Garage Beer Co. and NaparBCN — and the beers produced were sold at several locations in the Barcelona area on April 7, with proceeds going toward the cause.
