Stone Church Brewing celebrating grand opening today

Stone Church Brewing grand openingCorona’s Stone Church Brewing — which has been open about a month or so — will officially celebrate its grand opening from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. today (April 23).

The event will feature live music and raffle prizes, along with plenty of beer.

The Dos Lagos brewery is also collecting child-safe teddy bears for the We Care Bear Project, an organization that collects teddy bears for distribution to hospitals and fire and police departments, who in turn, give them to kids in crisis or in need.

Teddy bear donors will receive a free pint glass in return for their donation.

Stone Church Brewing is at 2785 Cabot Drive, Suite 160.

Second annual L.A. Local Craft Beer & Artisanal Food Festival Saturday at Alpine Village near Torrance

Sixty-plus beers from 30 local breweries accompanied by 15 food samples are available on Saturday at the second annual LA Local Craft Beer & Artisanal Food festival at Alpine Village near Torrance.

Notable beers available from Torrance breweries include include Smog City’s Amarilla Gorilla, Scholb Premium Ales’ Cherrywood Smoked Brown and a couple of mystery brews from new brewpub HopSaint.

Barrel-aged barleywines on tap in Redlands today

Wing OverFans of barrel-aged beers will want to head to Redlands on today (March 26) as two breweries will be releasing barrel-aged brews today.

Hangar 24 Craft Brewery will be pouring its Wing Over Barrel Roll series beer.

Previously known as Hammerhead, Wing Over is an American barleywine made with two English caramel malts and four American hops and aged for six months in charred oak rye whiskey and bourbon barrels.

Wing Over will be available in 750mL bottles for $20 each, with a 12-bottle limit.

Chino Brew and Chew features range of California breweries

Chino Brew and Chew 2016Soroptimist International of the Chino Valley’s Brew and Chew is back for another round.

This year’s iteration — set for 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday (March 20) — features breweries from Coronado to Chico and points in-between.

Attendees can sample 15 4-ounce tastes from more than a dozen California breweries.

Food will be available from several food trucks, including Baby’s Bad Ass Burgers, Cousins Maine Lobster and Me So Hungry.

New Brew: Brix Layer collaboration sour now available for pre-order at Smog City Brewery in Torrance

A wine barrel-aged sour blonde with fresh pressed Reisling grape must, Brix layer is a collaboration with J. Brix Wines in Escondido and is available for order through Smog City through March 18, a day ahead of the official release party:

Our Partners-in-Collaboration, Emily and Jody of J. Brix will be here March 19th for the Release Party offering pre-sales for their Riesling, Cobolorum, made using the same riesling grapes as was use in the making of Brix Layer.
Wine bottles will not be available for pick up at the brewery, all delivery and pick ups will be coordinated through J. Brix. All sales will be conducted through J. Brix.

In the works is a special “Friends of Smog” event at their facility in Escondido. Details to come!

Purchased bottles will be available at Smog City’s Tasting Room starting noon Saturday, March 19th at the official bottle release party and available through Sunday, April 17th, plus the beer will be available on draft beginning the day of the event. If we do not sell out online, bottle sales to the general public will begin March 20th.

Off the Grid Brewing Company grand openingOff the Grid Brewing Company, which has been in business for about five years — working mostly out of Inland Empire Brewing Company in Riverside — now has its own place to call home.

The new brewery opened a few weeks ago at 13615 John Glenn Road, Apple Valley.

The brewery will be hosting a grand opening celebration from noon to 9 p.m. today (February 6).

The Redlands brewery opened January 24, 2015.
