Beachwood Brewing in Long Beach & Seal Beach Releases Two New Bottled Beers Saturday

They’re not cheap — but they sound special — since they are two versions of the same beer.

One is a barrel-aged version of a Scottish-style ale dubbed Full Malted Jacket (12 percent alcohol by volume) that aged for a full year. Cost of a 750 ml bottle: $25. There’s a two bottle limit per customer.

“Full Malted Jacket marks our first barrel aged, bottled brew,” said brewmaster Julian Shrago. “The fact that we are barrel aging at Beachwood is an exciting achievement; seeing the potential, we’ll definitely be experimenting further with barrel aged beers in the near future.”

The other comes sans the year in bourbon barrels, is half the cost at $12 and checks in at 9.2 percent ABV.

Beachwood, which has locations in Long Beach and Seal Beach, was recently named Southern California’s best brewpub.
