Girl Scout cookie time!
Spring: Flowers. Rain. Fresh air. Greenery. Valentine’s Day. Easter. Rebirth. Renewal … and … Girl Scout Cookies!
The Girl Scouts web site has a “Meet the Cookies” page that describes each cookie. There’s even a MySpace profile for these cookies. If you don’t know anyone who sells the cookies, this page will put you in touch with a girl scout troop.
What's your favorite cookie? And why?
Thin Mints. These are probably the most popular Girl Scout cookie. They used to be my favorite, too, until a few years ago. After a while, the minty, crunch, chocolaty flavor didn't appeal much to me. Perhaps the cookie tastes too manufactured.
Do-Si-Dos aka Peanut Butter Sandwich. I don't like peanut butter, so I automatically ignore these cookies.
Trefoils aka Shortbread cookies. These cookies are great! They're a lot like the Chessman cookies by Pepperidge Farms. If you're the mood for a simple, buttery cookie that doesn't have all those distracting flavors and frills, this is perfect. It tastes great with coffee, too. I would include this with every coffee break throughout the day.
Tagalongs aka Peanut Butter Patties. Again, another peanut butter cookie. Not worth my time.
Samoas aka Caramel deLites. Simply THE BEST Girl Scout cookie ever made. Samoas are the perfect balance of chocolate, coconut, cookie crunch and caramel gooeyness. I love that the cookies are shaped like a doughnut -- it makes the cookie taste crisper and lighter! The only negative about this cookie is that I sometimes get a toothache after eating them. Then again, that's my fault, not the cookie's.
All Abouts. These cookies are just average. They're nothing special, really. Who hasn't had a cookie with chocolate on the bottom?
Thanks-A-Lot. I've never had one of these cookies, but they appear to be exactly like the All Abouts.
Lemon Chalet Cremes. This is an excellent cookie. The cookies are crunchy but not hard, and the lemon filling is a little sweet and a little tart. This is a cookie you won't feel guilty about eating because they feel like (and almost healthy!) That means you can eat 2 cookies, maybe 3.
Sugar Free Chocolate Chips. I'm not a fan of sugar free cookies. I've never had these, and I probably won't ever buy a box. If anyone wants to offer me a free cookie, though, I'll be happy to accept.
Cinna-Spins. I haven't tried these, but they look very good. They're on my list of cookies to try and buy.
Lemonades. I haven't tried these either. But if they're anything like the Lemon Chalet Cremes, then I will definitely enjoy them. My question is: how are they different?
Comments
I was a Girl Scout and have had my share of cookies (only 2 a day per mom!). My favorites were the Do-Si-Does and the lemon ones coated with powdered sugar. I love peanut butter and chocolate, but the Tagalongs just didn't make the grade. Happy snackin'!

I agree, Thin Mints are overrated. I LOVE SAMOAS! Anything with coconut and caramel count me in. Tagalongs are my second favorite because they don't have an overwhelming peanut butter taste like Reese's cups. Trefoils are third, though I would never buy a whole box, just freeload off of someone else. And what kind of name is Thanks-A-Lot!? Where are they? Where do they sell Cinna-Spins and Lemonades? I wanna try the Cinna-Spins.

I'm a big fan of Somoas, Tagalongs and Lemon Chalet Cremes. I find the other cookies a little too "dry" for my taste - I like my cookies moist.
