When the South Bay gets its first Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market possibly some time next year in Manhattan Beach, shoppers can expect a mix between Trader Joe's-style fresh and organic foods, and 7-Eleven-style checkout speed.
Six Fresh & Easy stores opened around Southern California today. Judging from the Glassell Park store, the checkout system may be a big draw for shoppers. There are more than a dozen checkout stations that allow for self-chckout, assisted checkout or traditional cashier checkout. With so many checkout stations and the option to do it yourself, shoppers may be in and out faster than at some convenince stores.
