Los Angeles County saw 59,086 foreclosures in 2007, up 148 percent compared to 2006, according to
Mt. Pleasant, Pa.-based Default Research, which provides foreclosure real estate data.

“Throughout 2007, Southern California has been a hot bed of foreclosed homes,” said Serdar Bankaci, President andCEO of Default Research, in a statement. “I think we will continue to see some increases, but the foreclosure crisis could be winding down. The market is even showing positive signs, such as a decrease in housing inventories.”
