Space Exploration Technologies, the Hawthorne-based developer of low-cost rockets, said it postponed today's planned launch of the RazakSAT satellite because of a "potential compatibility issue" between the spacecraft and the Falcon 1 rocket that would carry it into orbit.
The RazakSAT is owned by the Astronautic Technology Sdn Bhd of Malaysia.
Known as SpaceX, the local rocket company said the Falcon 1 and satellite both passed all preliminary checkouts and are cleared for launch. However, "a concern has been identified regarding the potential impact of predicted vehicle environments on the satellite," SpaceX said.
The company said it is considering options to minimixe the launch risks.
