MUHAMMED EL-HASAN: Toyota's Recall Troubles Remind Me of My Own Problems With a Subaru

Toyota is in a huge mess with the recall of millions of vehicles over unexpected acceleration and, now, brake problems.

Can Toyota pull out of this skid?

As I explain in this week's Business Casual column, Toyota can learn a lesson about the urgency of its problems by considering my issues with a Subaru 15 years ago.

Ongoing Toyota recalls are doing untold damage to their premium brand. 2.3 million cars in the United States to correct sticking accelerator pedals. over 4 million cars in the United States to correct pedals getting lodged below floor mats. 690,000 cars in China defective electrical window switches. Toyota ceo on TV to apologise for recall and still the media flag issues as the company gets more nervy. I question how much brand value this has cost them.
