The revelation that Alex Rodriguez tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug can hardly be considered shocking. It's a given that baseball players have been taking PED's for a decade-plus. Just A-Rod to the growing list of players who have tested positive. The list will only grow, too, since there are more than 100 names on the list of "anonymous" positives that will no doubt leak out in the days and weeks to come.
The blame here, though, goes squarely on the thin shoulders of commissioner Bud Selig, who turned a blind eye to the problem when it was subtext to the McGwire-Sosa home run chase, and than stalled and stalled the process of being pro-active regarding testing. The 2003 testing, in fact, was a ruse to stall further testing.
MLB didn't get in front of the problem, and now it's biting them in the pants like one of Michael Vick's dogs. Deservedly so.
Question for the readers: Should this this eliminate A-Rod from Hall of Fame consideration?

i blame the players also, there adults, not kids.there getting paid millions...
baseball does not need proof to bann these players from the hall, bonds,mac, clemens, arod,sosa, etc....baseball has to do something.
let there stats stand, but they cannot be used to get in the hall. pete rose and shoeless are still banned. pete should be banned from the game, not the hall and shoeless, should be allowed in the hall now.
