The wildfires in Santa Barbara have forced Long Beach State and UC Santa Barbara to leave town and move their three-game series that was scheduled to start today (Friday 2 p.m.) in Santa Barbara.

The two teams will instead meet at a neutral site---Cal State Fullerton's Goodwin Field. Friday's game has been moved to Saturday as part of a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m., and there will be a single game Sunday at 1 p.m.

Officials in Santa Barbara made the decision because of the fire's continued move toward the city of Santa Barbara and the hills further up the coast above the campus in Goleta. Meteorologists warned of more ``sundowner'' wind kick-ups and air quality was also an issue.

More details on ticket prices, admission and parking will be provided as they become available.

The Dirtbags are in a virtual three-way tie for second in the Big West and need to win the Gaucho series tp keep alive their postseason hopes.

*** update: admission will be free, according to the LBS athletic website.
