Michael Koncz, adviser to Manny Pacquiao, told several news outlets Monday that Pacquiao’s next fight will come against former lightweight champion Brandon Rios on Nov. 24 from Macau, China; that is Nov. 23 in the United States.
ESPN.com reported that the contracts are being finalized, and that the welterweight bout will be televised on HBO pay-per-view.
Pacquiao (54-5-2, 38 KOs) was knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez in the sixth round this past Dec. 8 in Las Vegas.
Koncz told ESPN.com that Marquez turned down a fifth fight with Pacquiao, and that Timothy Bradley turned down a second fight with Pacquiao. Bradley won a controversial split decision over Pacquiao on June 9 in Las Vegas.
Rios (31-1-1, 23 KOs) was defeated by Mike Alvarado via narrow decision in an interim junior welterweight title fight March 30 in Las Vegas.
