What would Jesus do?

Ahh, the rhetorical question that could be used in any given situation at any given time. Especially when it comes to religion and politics.

Confession is supposed to be good for the soul -- but to tell a padre all the naughty stuff you've done shouldn't have to include voting for Barack "the pro-abortion candidate" Obama.

A Catholic priest in Modesto -- one Father Joseph Illo of St. Joseph's Catholic Church -- told his parishioners that they better not get communion ifthey didn't atone for the Obama vote 'cos they'll be receiving the Holy Ghost "sacrilegiously." Translation: You're gonna burn in hell, change agent.

Man, give a guy with a turned-around collar a pulpit and he thinks he's God. It's bad enough when religious groups pontificate church and state during elections. Now it's to the point where some are scaring the easily God-fearing among us into damning them for making a personal choice. I never saw the point of having to tell a middle man what I could tell the Big Guy myself. We were given free will, which includes choice -- and if you refuse to seperate church and state, then what a person does in the voting booth is also sacred. To further complicate a person's right by telling them they were sinning for how they voted and will pay for it in the afterlife is ungodly. You have violated a basic human right -- and in my book, a violation is a sin. And I'll be damned if you're not guilty of denying any person the basic human right to believe that "who I voted for is between me and my God."

It is written to forgive the sinner, if not the sin. Try it sometime, padre, without the comfort of your confessional booth. And without the old standby wrath.
