Jumbo dumbo
It was 'plane' dumb. That FAA photo op over Manhattan that scared the bejesus out of New Yorkers. (what exactly is the bejesus, and why is it always scared out of us?)
This 747 jumbo jet that's a stand-in for Air Force One made a few passes over the city. followed by 2 F-16 fighter jets that were snapping the pics. Only thing is, no one alerted the city that it was going to take place. Not only that, those who came up with this idiotic brain twizzler purposely didn't want anybody -- not even authorities like the mayor or New York's Finest -- to know. The FAA was just updating it's portfolio.
Who's in charge, Homer Simpson?
Those of us in any other part of the country can't really know how scary that was. People must have thought it was Sept. 11, the Sequel.
This was such a brain dead incident that even snarky NBC Nightly News anchorman Brian Williams had a special comment on it. He referred to the incident as "clunky." That's telling 'em, Bri. Hit 'em where it hurts, those clunky so and sos.
By the way, we taxpayers are footing the bill for that stunt. A mere $328,835 -- or as it can also be called, cab fare for some executive of some bailed out corporation.
The White House military office approved the photo op. That office has a unique history, by the way. They also approved the Bay of Pigs, the Gulf of Tonken resolution, the Watergate break-in, the Iraq War and Kevin Costner's career choices since "Dances with Wolves."
The office apparently was powerful enough to demand secrecy about the planned photo op from the FBI, the New York Police Department and the Secret Service.
Who are these guys -- and do they take orders from Dick Cheney?
Can't you hear the former creepy veepy saying something like: "If I can't get our damn enemies to strike fear into this namby-pamby nation, I'll do it myself. Get me a couple of F-16s and a jumbo jet. Have it painted like Air Force One and fly them over New York so we can frighten little children. Get me the White House Military Office. They owe me for messin' with my private photo stock from Abu Ghraib."
A Pentagon spokesman said something like we can all agree this was a mistake. Ya think? Rumor has it when the jets flew past the Statue of Liberty the grand lady took a swipe at them her torch. Missed them by that much.
There's already been one incident with a passenger jet and the Hudson River, but that one turned out all right.
They should ditch the bozos behind this numbskullian decision in the Hudson without a plane.
President Obama was said to be "fuming mad" and didn't think Air Force One needed new publicity photos. So fire the bozo who heads the office.
He could always get a job somewhere selling Pontiacs.
The two would have something in common -- put out to pasture. And we all know what we can find in pastures.
