Liberal guilt

It was bound to happen.

The liberal news media is as guilty of messing with freedom of speech as the conservatives have been for the eight years George W. was president.

And they're snarky about it because they believe they have a sympathetic ear in the White House.

The subject in question is Miss California, Carrie Prejean -- the one who gave the awkward but honest answer during the Miss USA Pageant about marriage being between a man and a woman.

Apparently, her dilemma won't go away. Courtesy of a little bit herself and a whole lot of liberal news media.

Prejean was mocked after giving what the media called a "controversial" answer. After she became sort of the cover girl for a -- gasp! -- conservative group that opposes same sex marriage, she's become ridiculed.

That's right, as soon as she started mentioning God and praying for those who disagree with her, it was open season. Comedian Bill Maher even said she looked like a "transvestite." Lay off the illegal substance, Bill, it's clogging yourbrain cells.

Funny thing about this whole incident is that the liberal press isn't ridiculing openly gay blogger Perez Hilton for calling Miss California the "C" word. Is it because he's gay? Consider this: Had it been a heterosexual male who said that, we would've been called sexist and likely slammed with a sexual harassment suit.

No one stopped Hilton from being a judge at the pageant by thinking he would not be interested in the women as much as the set designs, costumes and choreography.

Or that he was armed and ready to snipe with a gotcha question for a poor, unsuspecting Orange County-type WASPish young Republican. It's as if this was all in her bio and it made her an easy target.

The liberal news media does indeed have an agenda. It's political correctness. And now it's their time to see how fast they can run the gamut of screwing with tradition.

Besides messing with a little tradition like marriage, the liberal press wants its pound of flesh from Bush and Cheney. And they want it now. Of course it's in the form of criminal charges because the last administration was "guilty" of torture. And the U.S. doesn't torture. Which doesn't explain being trapped in a controlled space like the work place and have to listen to someone talk endlessly about nothing on their cell phone.

The liberal news media wants action from their insider, President Obama. But so far, Obama isn't playing ball. Maybe he's just waiting for that perfect time to knock down that three-pointer. But right now he's on the bench.

Will the media turn on their chosen one if they don't get results? Don't bet on it. There's always something they want. Next up, it's a "progressive" Supreme Court appointee. And they've got to keep Obama honest about getting the troops out of Iraq.

In the meantime, they'll keep messing with traditions they don't accept. Like beauty pageants. Anything that's eye candy for us heteros is considered fair game.

And they'll continue to find ways to destroy myths we had about our heroes. Especially the dead ones -- for we all know the media in general is best at attacking people who aren't around to defend themselves.

They'll rattle the baseball cages until they can strike out another steroid user. They'll call for baseball records to have asteriks next to them because of steroids. (When you think about it, in the world of sports and entertainment, steroids are to men what breast implants are to women.)

The liberal news media keeps talking about diversity. Ya, if you're diverse enough to help in ways to stick the knife deeper into anything they don't view as progressive.

Liberal bias reporting is out and proud. But it's about as believable -- and effective -- as conservatives yakity-yaking about why torture works.

Anyway it's the liberals' turn at things to champion -- and in the process likely screw up.

They're mad as heck and ready to put down their Jane Austen novel, get in their eco-friendly car, grab a latte, chastise a red meat eater, try to make everything onegendered, and write a scathing op-ed piece in the New York Times.

There's always room for sterotypes on one end of the political spectrum to the other.

It's the year of the liberal. And it's going to be fun watching and listening to them as they squirm whenever they get their collective panties in a bunch.
